Salary:

  • Full time equivalent of £70,000 basic salary per year

Main Purpose of the Role:

Following internal discussions and initial IT scoping work, we are looking to appoint an experienced contractor Business Analyst, ideally with a Financial Services (FS) systems and regulatory background.

 

The appointed BA will take ownership of mapping out the current business and technical processes, validate and refine requirements, and align these with a set of core technology solutions.

 

The work will build on the original scoping already undertaken and will include identifying any process or solution gaps. A strong understanding of FS systems and regulatory environments is key to ensuring the right level of rigour in this work.

 

Key Objectives of the Business Analyst Role:

  • Confirm current system landscape and user base.
  • Confirm business requirements from all key current users.
  • Map existing processes and link to the proposed technology set.
  • Identify any process or requirement omissions.
  • Provide a cost analysis for any proposed system replacements or enhancements.
  • Prioritise the various solution deliveries based on business value, readiness, and risk.
  • Develop a clear and detailed delivery timeline, including phased approaches where appropriate.
  • Set out clear delivery dependencies and resource needs to support planning.
  • Identify any delivery risks or items unlikely to be ready for “Day 1” — and propose mitigation plans.
  • Present recommendations, costings and timelines for business approval.

 

Essential Skills / Experience:

  • Proven track record as a Business Analyst in complex FS environments.
  • Deep understanding of FS regulatory frameworks and operational processes.
  • Experience of process mapping, gap analysis and detailed requirements gathering.
  • Strong understanding of technology platforms and systems integration.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to engage with business leaders and IT.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and proactively drive project clarity and progress.

 

Desirable Skills / Experience:

  • Experience in Financial Services, preferably within regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of UK FS regulatory frameworks (FCA, AML, GDPR).
  • Process mapping and documentation using recognised methodologies.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications.
  • Experience working alongside IT teams, developers, architects, and testers.
  • Proven ability to drive clarity and progress in complex programmes of work.
  • Proven ability to work independently and proactively drive progress.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Resilient under pressure and comfortable working to demanding project deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to helpdesk and internal customers at a suitable level.
  • Ability to communicate with external support teams at a technical level.

 

The Finer Details

  • Full UK Driving Licence
